Support #Hike4Birds to the Arctic

Image
Our store now has three new sets of 6 Folded Note Cards featuring unique photos of birds, animals, and landscapes taken in Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia during Season 4 of our  #Hike4Birds  across Canada on the Trans Canada Trail. We've had an overwhelming number of requests for note cards since getting off the trail late last November, and they've finally arrived!  All proceeds will go towards helping us get to the Arctic, and reaching more classrooms, youth groups, and nature clubs across Canada to inspire people to experience the many benefits of spending time in nature for themselves. These colourful card sets make great Valentines Day or Easter gifts for that special nature lover, birder, hiker, or outdoor enthusiast in your life! We invite you to stop by our website: www.comewalkwithus.online/online-store

Letter of Congratulations from East Coast Trail!

Deeply touched to be remembered, supported and congratulated by the East Coast Trail association! In 2018 - 1 year before setting out on the Trans Canada Trail - we tested ourselves and our gear on the ECT. Newfoundland was our training ground for the longest trail in the world. Interestingly by the time we had completed this magnificence trip the ECT was announced as part of the national trail! A huge thanks your your support! See you on the trail! Congratulations from NatureNL and Ontario Nature !

This week the  Come Walk With Us  expedition trekking 28,000 km on the  Trans Canada Trail  received a kind email of Support and Congratulations from Nature Newfoundland and Labrador !  In 2019, as we took our first steps on the Great Trail we were joined by a large group from NatureNL as well as local media.  Their support was wonderful in those early days when the challenges of the national pathway and the shear size of Canada stood in front of us.  NatureNL was also one of the first groups who we presented to (back in the days when our talk was much much shorter). Warmed by the kindness of NatureNL's email and ongoing support we were doubly stunned when we received a wonderful Letter of Congratulations from Ontario Nature ! Graciously Ontario Nature noted their "appreciation for [our] leadership and dedication to promoting bird conservation across Canada ... [and our] ...  work connecting people to nature ... promoting the conservation of migratory birds".   To be reco

Come Walk With Us New Facebook Account !

Image
As we prepare to head to the Arctic in 2023 we have been spending the winter striving to restore our social media capabilities - the loss of which has been tough these last few months.  Our original Come Walk With Us Facebook account had more than 10000 followers and regular supporters.      Unfortunately the content from our original Facebook account has long since been deleted and we have lost contact with those who were following along over the past 4-5 years.  It has also meant that we received no orders for calendars or cards so far to help us fund our northern trek.   Despite this set back however we have started a new Facebook account!  This one can be located here: Come Walk With Us on the Trans Canada Trail           At present we are re-posting our Canadian hikes from the Atlantic to the Pacific on the Trans Canada Trail - from the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland to Victoria British Columbia!   We will be re-posting our favourite pictures and talking about some of the amazi

Sirens and Temptations : Chemainus to Duncan

Temptations on the Trail On every adventure there are always moments of self-doubt when we question ourselves, our motivations, and the path we have chosen.  Often these moments occur when the way forward is intensely challenging, unappealing, or we feel like we're too mentally or physically exhausted to continue pushing forward.    Almost invariably these moments open the door to temptation - whether it is to give up, take a shortcut, accept a ride, or make some other concession to lessen the burdens that lie ahead.   For the Ancient Greeks, such temptations took the form of Sirens - mythical creatures whose alluring voices rose in an irresistible chorus of promises that symbolized temptation, desire, and of course risk.   Over the course of this trek across Canada on the Trans Canada Trail, temptation has visited us in the form of GO trains that could have whisked us across the Greater Toronto Area in a matter of hours, short-cuts that would have saved us walking hundreds of ki
