Sometimes when you are the most
tired or you feel down it is the little things done or the kindnesses spoken by
those around you, or a moment of listening to another’s frustrations that
matter the most. Recently amid one dark evening of work on this year’s upcoming
hike when the details seemed too many to navigate and the distances all of a
sudden seemed too great a friend not only generously donated a MEC gift
certificate to help us with supplies but also sat with me and quietly listened.
Perhaps, to many this doesn’t seem like much, but when you feel lost and
overwhelmed it makes a world of difference. I am, as always, amazed by the
generosity of those around me and the amazing support we have received from my
colleagues at Bird Studies Canada and by people around the country! So today, I
don’t have anything pithy to say or any wonderful announcement to make. Instead
I would say, thank you to those who have and who continue to take the time to
listen to others and by doing so make a world of difference in a way they never
expected.
Huge thanks to all of you who have
offered words of support, liked our Facebook postings, shared our articles, or
commented on our twitter page. If you ever need someone just to listen I am
here.
